Like other anti-infective medicines, using this for a long time may cause other germs, such as fungi, to grow. If a new infection develops, stop using this medicine and use a different treatment. To avoid contamination, do not let the tip of the dropper touch your eye, eyelid, or any surface. Always keep the bottle tightly closed when not in use.
Using this medication with other drugs that also prolong the QT interval (such as erythromycin, certain antidepressants, or antipsychotic medications) can increase the risk of heart rhythm problems. Drugs that contain aluminum or magnesium (such as some antacids), or iron or zinc supplements, can lower how much of this medication your body absorbs, making it less effective. Taking this medicine with corticosteroids can raise the risk of serious tendon problems, especially in people over 60 years old. Sucralfate or didanosine can also reduce how well this medicine is absorbed.
**Warning:** Taking this medication together with certain antiarrhythmic drugs (like quinidine, procainamide, amiodarone, or sotalol), or other drugs that can prolong the QT interval, can greatly increase the risk of dangerous heart rhythm problems.
