Cloxacillin may impair the effectiveness of live bacterial vaccinations (such as the typhoid vaccine). Unless your doctor advises otherwise, do not get any vaccines or vaccinations while taking this drug.
Before using this drug, tell your doctor about all other medications you're taking, including fusidic acid, methotrexate, tetracyclines, warfarin, khat, and guar gum.
There is a probability that the risk of methotrexate toxicity will increase. Oestrogen-containing OC's efficacy may be reduced. Probenecid and increased plasma concentrations. Bacteriostatic medicines (such as chloramphenicol and tetracycline) may interfere with flucloxacillin's bactericidal action. Patients taking oral anticoagulants may experience longer bleeding times.
Hypersensitivity to the active ingredient to penicillins and Porphyria.
By attaching to certain penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs) found inside the bacterial cell wall, flucloxacillin inhibits the third and last step of bacterial cell wall formation. It works against both staphylococci that produce penicillinase and those that don't.
Adults (including elderly patients):
Oral:
250-500mg three to four times a day. Oral doses should be administered 1 hour before meal
Children
2-10 years: Half of adult dose
Under 2 years: One fourth of adult dose
Children have been given doses of 12.5-25 mg/kg body weight four times a day.
IV 0.25-1 g 4 times/day, may double in severe cases. Up to 8 g/day in 3-4 divided doses may be given for osteomyelitis. Up to 8 g/day in 4 divided doses for endocarditis in patients weighing 85 kg.
Renal impairment:

Although animal reproduction studies have shown an adverse effect even sometimes unable to demonstrate the risk on the fetus and there are no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women, but during pregnancy, this medicine can be used just when definitely required.
