In a clinical pharmacology trial of Dapoxetine at daily doses up to 240 mg, there were no unexpected interactions with other drugs. Serotonin-mediated adverse effects such as somnolence, gastrointestinal problems such as nausea and vomiting, tachycardia, tremor, agitation, and dizziness are common signs of SSRI overdose. In the event of an overdose, normal supportive measures should be used.
Hypersensitivity to dapoxetine HCl or any of the excipients has been documented. Patients with severe pathological cardiac diseases, such as heart failure (NYHA class II-IV), conduction abnormalities (second- or third-degree AV block or sick sinus syndrome) not treated with a permanent pacemaker, major ischemic heart disease, or significant valve disease.
Treatment with monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) at the same time or within 14 days of stopping treatment with an MAOI. Similarly, an MAOI should not be started after Dapoxetine has been stopped for at least 7 days.
Concurrent thioridazine medication or within 14 days of terminating thioridazine treatment. Similarly, thioridazine should not be given for 7 days after Dapoxetine has been stopped.
Concurrent treatment with serotonin re-uptake inhibitors (SSRIs), serotonin-norepinephrine re-uptake inhibitors (SNRIs), or tricyclic antidepressants (TCAs) or other serotonergic medicinal/herbal medicines, or within 14 days of ceasing treatment with these medicinal/herbal goods. In the same way, these medicinal/herbal medications should not be used within 7 days of stopping Dapoxetine.
Dapoxetine is a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI), however, it differs differently from the SSRIs commonly used for depression and other mental illnesses such as Zoloft, Paxil, and Prozac.
Instead of taking the medicine every day, it was supposed to be given as needed, one to three hours before sex. It is also removed from the body faster than other SSRIs.
The average time to ejaculation in males who received treatment was 1.75 minutes in placebo-treated men, 2.78 minutes in those who received 30 milligrams of Dapoxetine, and 3.32 minutes in men who received 60 milligrams of the medicine. The research took three months to complete.
Although a few minutes may not seem like much, it was a significant amount of time for the patient.
Recommended Starting Dose: 30 mg, taken as needed approximately 1-3 hrs prior to sexual activity.
Maximum Recommended Dosing Frequency: Once every 24 hrs. If the effect of 30 mg is insufficient and the side effects are acceptable, the dose may be increased to the maximum recommended dose of 60 mg.
Elderly (>65 years): Safety and efficacy of Dapoxetine have not been established in patients >65 years as limited data are available in this population.
Children and Adolescents: Dapoxetine should not be used in individuals
FDA has not yet classified this medicine into a specified pregnancy category. Although there is no enough evidence that taking this medicine during you are pregnant is harmful.
Discuss with your doctor if you are trying to get pregnant while taking this medicine too.
If you do become pregnant while you are taking this medicine, you should continue to take it and contact with your doctors as quickly as possible. They can assist you to decide whether or not to keep taking this medicine. If you abandon taking this medicine and become sick, this would be more pernicious to your child than staying on the medication.
There is no specific information about whether this medicine is passed on to the baby through breast milk. During this medication, if your baby becomes very sleepy, restless, fatigued, exhibit feeding problems, stop breastfeeding and talk to your doctors very quickly.
