Do liver function tests (LFTs) before and during treatment. There is a higher risk of liver damage in patients over 30 years old, women (especially those taking estrogen), people with a history of liver problems, or those taking more than 400 mg per day. Use caution in people with heart or lung problems, and during pregnancy.
Central nervous system (CNS) depressants, estrogen medicines, and calcium channel blockers can interact with this drug. The effects on the brain and nervous system may increase if you also drink alcohol or use other CNS depressants.
People with active liver disease, those experiencing sudden muscle spasms, and patients who rely on their muscle stiffness to help them stand or move should not use this. It should also not be used while breastfeeding.
Dantrolene works directly on skeletal muscles. It stops the muscles from contracting in response to signals by likely blocking the release of calcium from the sarcoplasmic reticulum.

Spasticity
Adult: Initially, 25 mg daily increased gradually at 7-day intervals over 7 wk. Discontinue if no response after 45 days of treatment. Max: 100 mg 4 times daily.
Child: Initially, 0.5 mg/kg once daily, may increase gradually to 2 mg/kg 3-4 times daily. Max: 100 mg 4 times daily.
Although animal reproduction studies have shown an adverse effect on the fetus and there are no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women, but during pregnancy, this medicine can be used just when definitely required despite potential risks.
Mothers with a newborn baby who have used this drug during the last 3 months of pregnancy may seldom create symptoms including drowsiness, muscle stiffness or shakiness, feeding or breathing troubles, constant crying. If you notice any of these symptoms of your baby's particularly during their first month, tell the doctor immediately.
This medicine passes into breast milk. Talk to your doctor before breastfeeding.
