Bromhexine Hydrochloride Similar medicine
Bromhexine should be taken with caution in patients with a history of peptic ulcer disease because mucolytics can disturb the stomach mucosa. Asthmatic patients should also take precautions. Patients with significant hepatic or renal impairment may have a decreased clearance of bromhexine and its metabolites.
There are no known major interactions between this medicine and other medications.
It is not recommended if you have a known hypersensitivity to Bromhexine Hydrochloride or any of the product's constituents.
Bromhexine is a mucolytic.
Tablet:
Adults and children over 10 years: 8-16 mg 3 times daily. Children 5-10 years: 4 mg 3 times daily.
Syrup:
Adults: The recommended daily dose is 2 to 4 teaspoonful 3 times. Initially 4 teaspoonful 3 times daily and then as required.
Children: Suggested dosage for children under 2 years is 1/4 teaspoonful 3 times daily,
2-5 years 1/2 teaspoonful 3 times daily
5-10 years 1 teaspoonful 3 times daily.
FDA has not yet classified this medicine into a specified pregnancy category. Although there is no enough evidence that taking this medicine during you are pregnant is harmful.
Discuss with your doctor if you are trying to get pregnant while taking this medicine too.
If you do become pregnant while you are taking this medicine, you should continue to take it and contact with your doctors as quickly as possible. They can assist you to decide whether or not to keep taking this medicine. If you abandon taking this medicine and become sick, this would be more pernicious to your child than staying on the medication.
There is no specific information about whether this medicine is passed on to the baby through breast milk. During this medication, if your baby becomes very sleepy, restless, fatigued, exhibit feeding problems, stop breastfeeding and talk to your doctors very quickly.
