Precautions and warnings

Before using this drug, tell your doctor about your medical history, especially if you have renal disease, are pregnant, or are a mother who breastfeeds her baby.

Tell your doctor or dentist about all the products you consume before surgery including prescription drugs, nonprescription drugs, and herbal products.

Sugar may be present in liquid items. Aspartame may be present in the rapidly dissolving pills. If you have diabetes, phenylketonuria, or any other condition that requires you to limit or avoid these compounds in your diet, you should proceed with caution. Consult your doctor or pharmacist for advice on how to use this medicine safely.

Drug Interactions

Certain laboratory tests, such as allergy skin testing, may be affected by this medicine, potentially leading to erroneous test findings. Make sure your laboratory personnel and all of your doctors are aware that you are taking this medication.

If you use fexofenadine with ketoconazole or erythromycin, your plasma levels of fexofenadine may rise. Other anticholinergics and CNS depressants may intensify their negative effects. Antipsychotics (phenothiazines) may have an arrhythmogenic impact; avoid taking them together. Betahistine's efficacy may be reduced. Fexofenadine's anticholinergic action may be enhanced by pramlintide. Verapamil's bioavailability may be improved. Rifampin has the potential to diminish efficacy.

Hypersensitivity to the active ingredient.

Mode of actions

On effector cells in the GI tract, blood vessels, and respiratory tract, fexofenadine, an active metabolite of terfenadine, is a competitive peripheral histamine H1-receptor antagonist.

Dosage & Administration

Adults:
Allergic rhinitis: 120 mg once daily or 60 mg twice daily
Urticaria: 180 mg once daily

Children:
2-11 years: 30 mg (1 spoonful) or 5 ml twice daily
6 months-2 years: 15 mg (1/2 spoonful) or 2.5 ml twice daily

Pregnancy & Lactation

Although animal reproduction studies have shown an adverse effect on the fetus and there are no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women, but during pregnancy, this medicine can be used just when definitely required despite potential risks.

Mothers with a newborn baby who have used this drug during the last 3 months of pregnancy may seldom create symptoms including drowsiness, muscle stiffness or shakiness, feeding or breathing troubles, constant crying. If you notice any of these symptoms of your baby's particularly during their first month, tell the doctor immediately.

This medicine passes into breast milk. Talk to your doctor before breastfeeding.
