Drug Interactions

It may make phenytoin more toxic. It increases how much ivermectin your body absorbs, but decreases how much albendazole is absorbed. Drinking alcohol while taking this can cause a reaction similar to disulfiram (flushing, nausea, etc.).

Contraindications

People with existing blood disorders, those who are pregnant or breastfeeding, individuals with rheumatoid arthritis, or those with severe kidney problems should take caution.

Mode of actions

Levamisole is the active form of tetramisole. It works by paralyzing certain intestinal worms, allowing them to be passed out of the body. Levamisole also helps boost the body’s immune response at the cellular level.

Dosage & Administration

Oral
Ascariasis
Adult: 150 mg as a single dose.
Child: 3 mg/kg as a single dose.

Mixed ascariasis-hookworm infections
Adult: 2.5 mg/kg as a single dose, repeated after 7 days in severe cases.
Child: 2.5 mg/kg as a single dose, repeated after 7 days in severe cases.

Ancylostomiasis
Adult: 2.5 mg/kg as a single dose, repeated after 7 days in severe cases.
Child: 2.5 mg/kg as a single dose, repeated after 7 days in severe cases.

Pregnancy & Lactation

Although animal reproduction studies have shown an adverse effect on the fetus and there are no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women, but during pregnancy, this medicine can be used just when definitely required despite potential risks.

Mothers with a newborn baby who have used this drug during the last 3 months of pregnancy may seldom create symptoms including drowsiness, muscle stiffness or shakiness, feeding or breathing troubles, constant crying. If you notice any of these symptoms of your baby's particularly during their first month, tell the doctor immediately.

This medicine passes into breast milk. Talk to your doctor before breastfeeding.
