Due to excessively low or high blood sugar, you may feel blurred vision, dizziness, or drowsiness. Do not drive, operate machinery, or engage in any activity that necessitates alertness or clear vision until you are certain you can do so safely.
While taking this medication, you should avoid drinking alcohol because it can raise your risk of low blood sugar.
When your body is stressed, such as from a fever, infection, injury, or surgery, it may be more difficult to maintain blood sugar control. Consult your doctor if you need to change your treatment plan, medications, or blood sugar tests.
This drug could make you more sun-sensitive. Spend as little time as possible in the sun. Sunlamps and tanning booths should be avoided. When you're outside, use sunscreen and wear protective gear. If you get sunburned or notice skin redness, call your doctor right away.
Many medications might have an adverse effect on your blood sugar, making it more difficult to manage. Consult your doctor before beginning, stopping, or changing any medication to learn how it may impact your blood sugar. Check your blood sugar as prescribed and inform your doctor of the results. If you have symptoms of high or low blood sugar, call your doctor straight once. Your diabetic medication, exercise routine, or diet may need to be adjusted by your doctor.
Beta-blocker drugs like metoprolol and propranolol, as well as glaucoma eye drops like timolol, can help you avoid the pounding heartbeat that occurs when your blood sugar drops too low. These medications have little effect on other symptoms of low blood sugar, such as dizziness, hunger, or sweating.
Diabetic ketoacidosis with or without coma.
This medicine increases insulin production in pancreatic cells while lowering glucose output in the liver. Insulin sensitivity at peripheral target locations is also improved.
Oral
Type 2 diabetes mellitus
Adult: Initially, 1-2 mg daily. May be increased in increments of 1-2 mg at intervals of 1-2 wk. Maintenance: 4 mg daily. Max: 6 mg daily.
Elderly: Initially, 1 mg once daily.
Hepatic impairment: Severe: Contraindicated.
Although animal reproduction studies have shown an adverse effect on the fetus and there are no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women, but during pregnancy, this medicine can be used just when definitely required despite potential risks.
Mothers with a newborn baby who have used this drug during the last 3 months of pregnancy may seldom create symptoms including drowsiness, muscle stiffness or shakiness, feeding or breathing troubles, constant crying. If you notice any of these symptoms of your baby's particularly during their first month, tell the doctor immediately.
This medicine passes into breast milk. Talk to your doctor before breastfeeding.
