Precautions and warnings
Tell your doctor about your medical history, especially if you have hay fever, allergies like asthma, liver illness, kidney disease, stomach or intestinal disease, eczema.
Clindamycin may impair the effectiveness of live bacterial vaccinations, particularly typhoid immunizations. Unless your doctor advises otherwise, do not get any vaccines or vaccinations while taking this drug.

- thrombophloebitis. Potentially Fatal: Gasping syndrome (neonates); pseudomembranous colitis.
Drug Interactions
This medication may help neuromuscular blockers work better (for example, atracurium). It has the potential to counteract the effects of parasympathomimetics. The test also revealed that macrolides, ketolides, streptogramins, linezolid, and chloramphenicol are all inhibited competitively.
Along with Vitamin K antagonists, it can increase coagulation tests (prothrombin time/INR) and/or bleeding (for example, warfarin, acenocoumarol, fluindione).
Kaolin-pectin is a medication that may interact with this one.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to the active ingredient.
Mode of actions
Clindamycin suppresses protein synthesis by reversibly binding to the 50S subunit of the ribosomal subunit, preventing susceptible organisms from completing transpeptidation or translocation processes, resulting in restricted cell development.
Dosage & Administration
Adult: PO Serious anaerobic infections 150-300 mg 6 hrly, up to 450 mg 6 hrly for severe infections. Max: 1.8 g/day. Prophylaxis of endocarditis 600 mg 1 hr before dental procedure.
IV Serious anaerobic infections 0.6-2.7 g/day in divided does, up to 4.8 g/day for severe infections. Toxic shock syndrome W/ penicillin G or ceftriaxone: 900 mg 8 hrly. Pelvic inflammatory disease W/ gentamicin: 900 mg 8 hrly.
Neonates (less than 1 month): 15 to 20 mg/kg/day in 3 to 4 equal doses. The lower effective dosage may be adequate for small prematures.
Pediatric patients (1 month of age to 16 years)
Parenteral (IV/IM) administration: 20 to 40 mg/kg/day in 3 or 4 equal doses. The higher doses would be used for more severe infections.
Pregnancy & Lactation
Although animal reproduction studies have shown an adverse effect even sometimes unable to demonstrate the risk on the fetus and there are no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women, but during pregnancy, this medicine can be used just when definitely required.
