Precautions and warnings

Drug Interactions
It may reduce the effect of levodopa. When used together with painkillers, antimuscarinics, or benzodiazepines, there may be an added beneficial effect.
Contraindications
Severe renal/hepatic/cardiac dysfunction. Porphyria.
Mode of actions
Drotaverine is a medicine that helps relax smooth muscles by blocking an enzyme called phosphodiesterase-IV. It works quickly and directly on the muscle to stop spasms. By balancing certain chemicals (cyclic AMP and calcium) in the muscles, drotaverine helps relieve muscle cramps and pain.
Dosage & Administration
Adults: 1 to 2 tablets, 3 times daily.
Children (over 6 years): 1/2 to 1 tablet, 1-2 times daily.
Children (1-6 years): 1/4 to 1/2 tablet, 1-2 times daily.
Injection: Adults: 1 to 2 ampoules, intramuscularly or subcutaneously, 1-3 times daily. For the management of acute stone colics: 1 or 2 ampoules by slow intravenous injection.
Pregnancy & Lactation
Although animal reproduction studies have shown an adverse effect on the fetus and there are no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women, but during pregnancy, this medicine can be used just when definitely required despite potential risks.
Mothers with a newborn baby who have used this drug during the last 3 months of pregnancy may seldom create symptoms including drowsiness, muscle stiffness or shakiness, feeding or breathing troubles, constant crying. If you notice any of these symptoms of your baby's particularly during their first month, tell the doctor immediately.
This medicine passes into breast milk. Talk to your doctor before breastfeeding.
