Fluconazole has been linked to a cardiac rhythm disorder. It can induce dangerous irregular heartbeat and other symptoms like severe dizziness and fainting, which require immediate medical intervention.
If you have certain medical conditions or are taking other drugs that can induce QT prolongation, your risk of developing an abnormal cardiac rhythm may be increased. Tell your doctor or pharmacist about all of your medications and if you have any of the following conditions before using fluconazole: Heart problems (heart failure, sluggish heartbeat, EKG), and a family history of heart difficulties.
Low potassium or magnesium levels in the blood might also put you at risk for an irregular heartbeat.
This medicine has the potential to make you dizzy, despite its rarity. You may become dizzy if you consume alcohol or use cannabis. Do not drive, operate machinery, or engage in any other activity that requires attentiveness until you are sure you can do so safely. Limit your intake of alcoholic beverages. If you use cannabis, talk to your doctor.
Clopidogrel is one of the drugs that may interact with this one.
Many medicines, including pimozide, quinidine, and macrolide antibiotics (such as erythromycin), might influence heart rhythm in addition to fluconazole.
Fluconazole can impede the elimination of other drugs from your body, affecting their effectiveness. Asunaprevir, cisapride, flibanserin, and lomitapide are some of the medicines that are affected.
Hypersensitivity to the active ingredient.
Fluconazole inhibits cell membrane production in susceptible fungi such as B. dermatitidis, Candida spp., C. immitis, C. neoformans, Epidermophyton spp., H. capsulatum, Micosporum spp., and Trichophyton spp. via interfering with cytochrome P450 activity.
Adult: PO Superficial mucosal candidiasis 50 mg/day, up to 100 mg/day. Treatment duration: 7-30 days depending on condition.
Candidal balanitis; Vag candidiasis 150 mg as a single dose.
Dermatophytosis; Pityriasis versicolor; Cutaneous candidiasis 50 mg/day, for up to 6 wk.
Systemic candidiasis; Cryptococcal infections Initial: 400 mg, then 200-400 mg/day. Max: 800 mg/day in severe cases.
Prevention of relapse after a primary course of antifungal treatment for acute cryptococcal infections in AIDS patients 100-200 mg/day.
Prophylaxis of fungal infections in immunocompromised patients 50-400 mg/day.
Child over 1 year - superficial candidal infections, 1-2 mg/kg daily; systemic candidiasis and cryptococcal infections (including meningitis) - 3-6 mg/kg daily (in serious life threatening infections up to 12 mg/kg daily has been given to children aged 5-13 years - max. 400 mg daily).
Renal impairment: Haemodialysis patients: Usual dose given after each session.

This medicine is not allowed during pregnancy. Do not use it if you are pregnant. It can be absorbed through the skin and lungs caused can damage your unborn child’s organs and cause congenital disabilities. Strict effective birth control during treatment and for six months after stopping this medicine. If you do become pregnant, stop taking this medicine and discuss your doctor right away.
There is no specific information on whether this medicine passes into breast milk or not. Considering the possible risks for the children, breastfeeding while using this medicine is not recommended and at least two weeks after the last dose. Consult your doctor before breastfeeding.
