Precautions and warnings

Sometimes, though rarely, people may have allergic reactions or develop a skin rash after using Fluticasone Propionate nasal spray. There have also been rare reports of breathing problems, damage to the nasal septum, cataracts, glaucoma, and higher pressure in the eyes after using corticosteroid nasal sprays like Fluticasone Propionate. While side effects are usually minimal when using the recommended amount, the risk of problems goes up with higher doses. For this reason, you should not use more than the recommended dose of Fluticasone Propionate nasal spray.

Drug Interactions

Using CYP3A4 inhibitors like ritonavir with fluticasone can increase the amount of fluticasone in the blood.

Mode of actions

Fluticasone has a special chemical structure called a fluorocarbothioate ester at its C17 position. When used on the skin, it strongly reduces inflammation and tightens blood vessels, but it only slightly affects the body's hormone system (HPA axis).

Dosage & Administration

Adults & Children over 12 years: 2 sprays in each nostril once a day, preferably in the morning. In some cases 2 sprays into each nostril twice daily, not exceeding 4 sprays.Children under 12 years (4 - 11 Years): 1 spray in each nostril once a day. The maximum total daily dosage should not exceed 4 sprays.

Pregnancy & Lactation

Although animal reproduction studies have shown an adverse effect on the fetus and there are no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women, but during pregnancy, this medicine can be used just when definitely required despite potential risks.

Mothers with a newborn baby who have used this drug during the last 3 months of pregnancy may seldom create symptoms including drowsiness, muscle stiffness or shakiness, feeding or breathing troubles, constant crying. If you notice any of these symptoms of your baby's particularly during their first month, tell the doctor immediately.

This medicine passes into breast milk. Talk to your doctor before breastfeeding.
