Fluorometholone 0.1 % Eye prep Similar medicine
- Do not use this medication for a long time if you are pregnant or giving it to infants.
- Be careful if you are taking MAO inhibitors; talk to your doctor before using this medicine.
- Do not use the drops while wearing soft contact lenses. Remove your lenses first, and wait at least 15 minutes after using the drops before putting them back in.
- Shake the bottle well before each use.
Do not use this medication if you have any of the following:
- Viral infections of the eye, such as those caused by Herpes simplex
- Fungal infections of the eye
- Tuberculosis infections in the eye
- Ulcers on the cornea
- Allergy to any of the ingredients in this medicine
Fluorometholone reduces inflammation by stopping certain white blood cells from moving to the affected area and by preventing blood vessels from becoming too leaky.
Adults and children (above 2 years of age):
Instill 1-2 drops into conjunctivalsac 2-3 times daily. Dose may be increased to 1 drop hourly during first 24-48 hr.
Although animal reproduction studies have shown an adverse effect on the fetus and there are no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women, but during pregnancy, this medicine can be used just when definitely required despite potential risks.
Mothers with a newborn baby who have used this drug during the last 3 months of pregnancy may seldom create symptoms including drowsiness, muscle stiffness or shakiness, feeding or breathing troubles, constant crying. If you notice any of these symptoms of your baby's particularly during their first month, tell the doctor immediately.
This medicine passes into breast milk. Talk to your doctor before breastfeeding.
