Precautions and warnings

Keep away from eyes. Do not use under a bandage or tight covering. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, consult your doctor before use.

Contraindications

People with thyroid problems (especially nodular colloid goitre, endemic goitre, or Hashimoto's thyroiditis) should not use this product regularly. It is also not safe for infants under 2 years old. If someone has kidney problems and applies this product often to broken skin, extra care is needed. People taking lithium should also avoid using this product regularly.

Mode of actions

Povidone-iodine is a strong germ-killing agent that works against many types of germs, including bacteria, viruses, fungi, protozoa, and spores. It kills these germs by breaking down their cell parts and attaching iodine to their proteins, which stops them from working. It can also be used as an eye lubricant.

Dosage & Administration

Adult: As cream: For the treatment of infection: Apply once or twice daily or at dressing changes for a maximum of 14 days. For the prevention of infection: Apply once or twice a week for as long as necessary. Apply cream directly to the affected area after being cleaned and dried. May be covered with a dressing or bandage.

Pregnancy & Lactation

This medicine is not allowed during pregnancy. Do not use it if you are pregnant. It can be absorbed through the skin and lungs caused can damage your unborn child’s organs and cause congenital disabilities. Strict effective birth control during treatment and for six months after stopping this medicine. If you do become pregnant, stop taking this medicine and discuss your doctor right away.

There is no specific information on whether this medicine passes into breast milk or not. Considering the possible risks for the children, breastfeeding while using this medicine is not recommended and at least two weeks after the last dose. Consult your doctor before breastfeeding.
