Precautions and warnings
Do not use alcohol or disulfiram together. Also, avoid using this medication in people who have had blood disorders in the past.

Drug Interactions
Taking disulfiram at the same time as other medications can sometimes lead to psychotic reactions. Drinking alcohol while on disulfiram can also cause unpleasant reactions similar to those caused by disulfiram itself. Cimetidine may increase the time disulfiram stays in your body.
Serious Warning: Disulfiram can make the effects of blood thinners like warfarin stronger, which can increase the risk of dangerous bleeding.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity; pregnancy (1st trimester) and lactation.
Mode of actions
Secnidazole is effective against several types of microorganisms, including E. histolytica, G. lamblia, T. vaginalis, Clostridium species, B. fragilis, and Gardnerella species. The drug works by entering these organisms through diffusion. Inside the cells, it is activated by a substance called ferredoxin, which causes damage to the microorganism’s DNA and helps to kill it.
Dosage & Administration
Adult: PO Invasive amoebiasis 1.5 g/day for 5 days. Amoebiasis; Giardiasis; Trichomoniasis Single dose of 2 g.
Pregnancy & Lactation
FDA has not yet classified this medicine into a specified pregnancy category. Although there is no enough evidence that taking this medicine during you are pregnant is harmful.
Discuss with your doctor if you are trying to get pregnant while taking this medicine too.
If you do become pregnant while you are taking this medicine, you should continue to take it and contact with your doctors as quickly as possible. They can assist you to decide whether or not to keep taking this medicine. If you abandon taking this medicine and become sick, this would be more pernicious to your child than staying on the medication.
There is no specific information about whether this medicine is passed on to the baby through breast milk. During this medication, if your baby becomes very sleepy, restless, fatigued, exhibit feeding problems, stop breastfeeding and talk to your doctors very quickly.
