Iron can bind with antacids and tetracycline, which may reduce how well your body absorbs all of them.

Contraindications

This medicine should not be used by patients who are allergic to any of its ingredients or who have haemolytic anemia.

Mode of actions

**Iron:**
Iron is important for making hemoglobin, the protein in red blood cells that carries oxygen. Enough iron is needed to make healthy red blood cells and for the body to work properly. Iron also helps several important enzymes, including those that help with energy production. Iron is found in hemoglobin, myoglobin (in muscles), and enzymes, and its main job is to help carry oxygen in the blood.

**Folic Acid:**
Folic acid is needed for making DNA and forming healthy red blood cells. In the body, especially the liver and blood, folic acid changes into an active form called tetrahydrofolic acid with the help of an enzyme called dihydrofolate reductase. Folic acid also helps prevent birth defects of the brain and spine in babies, so women who may become pregnant or are pregnant need more of it.

Dosage & Administration

The usual therapeutic dose for Adult: 50-100 mg 2-3 times daily.

Pregnancy & Lactation

FDA has not yet classified this medicine into a specified pregnancy category. Although there is no enough evidence that taking this medicine during you are pregnant is harmful.

Discuss with your doctor if you are trying to get pregnant while taking this medicine too.

If you do become pregnant while you are taking this medicine, you should continue to take it and contact with your doctors as quickly as possible. They can assist you to decide whether or not to keep taking this medicine. If you abandon taking this medicine and become sick, this would be more pernicious to your child than staying on the medication.


There is no specific information about whether this medicine is passed on to the baby through breast milk. During this medication, if your baby becomes very sleepy, restless, fatigued, exhibit feeding problems, stop breastfeeding and talk to your doctors very quickly.
