Precautions and warnings
Sometimes, people can have allergic reactions or skin irritation after using Fluticasone Furoate nasal spray, but this is uncommon. In rare cases, some people have experienced more serious side effects like wheezing, holes in the nasal septum, cataracts, glaucoma, or higher pressure inside the eyes when using corticosteroid nasal sprays, including Fluticasone Furoate. These problems are usually not an issue when using the recommended dose, but the risk goes up if you use more than you should. For this reason, it is important not to use Fluticasone Furoate nasal spray in higher doses than prescribed.
Side-effects
- Fluticasone Furoate nasal spray is absorbed less into the rest of the body
- therefore fewer side effects are seen. With the nasal spray
- drying of the nose
- an increase in the incidence of nosebleeds may occur.
Drug Interactions
Using fluticasone together with CYP450 3A4 inhibitors like ritonavir can cause the amount of fluticasone in the blood to increase.
Contraindications
Fluticasone Furoate nasal spray should not be used by anyone who is allergic to any of its ingredients.
Mode of actions
Fluticasone has a special chemical structure called a fluorocarbothioate ester at the C17 position. This gives it strong abilities to reduce inflammation and narrow blood vessels.
Dosage & Administration
Adults & Children over 12 years: 2 sprays in each nostril once a day. In some cases 2 sprays into each nostril twice daily, not exceeding 4 sprays.
Children under 12 years (2 - 11 Years): 1 spray in each nostril once a day
Patients should use Neotison (Fluticasone Furoate) nasal spray at regular intervals as directed since its effectiveness depends on its regular use.
Children (under 2 years of age): There are no data to recommend use of Fluticasone Furoate Nasal Spray for the treatment of seasonal or perennial allergic rhinitis in children under 2 years of age.
Pregnancy & Lactation
Although animal reproduction studies have shown an adverse effect on the fetus and there are no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women, but during pregnancy, this medicine can be used just when definitely required despite potential risks.
Mothers with a newborn baby who have used this drug during the last 3 months of pregnancy may seldom create symptoms including drowsiness, muscle stiffness or shakiness, feeding or breathing troubles, constant crying. If you notice any of these symptoms of your baby's particularly during their first month, tell the doctor immediately.
This medicine passes into breast milk. Talk to your doctor before breastfeeding.
