Precautions and warnings

If you have kidney problems, liver difficulties, or allergies, tell your doctor. This drug may increase your sensitivity to the effects of the sun. Excessive sun exposure should be avoided. When you're outside, wear protective clothing and use good sunscreen. If you become unwell, are hurt, or develop a severe infection, call your doctor right away. This drug should not be used during pregnancy and should only be used if absolutely necessary while breastfeeding. Consult your doctor about the dangers and advantages.

While taking this medication, avoid consuming alcohol since an intolerance may develop, resulting in flushing, giddiness, nausea, and a fast heart rate.

Contraindications

Diabetes mellitus, ketoacidosis, hypersensitivity, and severe renal and hepatic impairment are all symptoms of type 1 diabetes. Pregnancy and a mother who breastfeeds her child.

Mode of actions

Gliclazide enhances insulin sensitivity at peripheral target sites by stimulating insulin production from pancreatic cells, lowering insulin absorption and glucose output by the liver, and increasing insulin sensitivity at peripheral target sites. It reduces micro thrombosis by restoring fibrinolysis and increasing tissue plasminogen activator (tPA) activity while partially inhibiting platelet aggregation and adhesion.

Dosage & Administration

Adult: PO Initial: 40-80 mg/day, increase slowly if needed. Doses >160 mg/day may be given in 2 divided doses.

Pregnancy & Lactation

Although animal reproduction studies have shown an adverse effect on the fetus and there are no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women, but during pregnancy, this medicine can be used just when definitely required despite potential risks.

Mothers with a newborn baby who have used this drug during the last 3 months of pregnancy may seldom create symptoms including drowsiness, muscle stiffness or shakiness, feeding or breathing troubles, constant crying. If you notice any of these symptoms of your baby's particularly during their first month, tell the doctor immediately.

This medicine passes into breast milk. Talk to your doctor before breastfeeding.
