Precautions and warnings
It is recommended to regularly check uric acid levels, blood counts, and how well your kidneys and liver are working. Special care should be taken if you have had previous radiation therapy or if you are elderly. Do not use live vaccines while taking this medication.

- alopecia. Potentially Fatal: Bone marrow suppression.
Drug Interactions
Other treatments for cancer include certain chemotherapy drugs, such as cytarabine (also known as ara-C) and fluoropyrimidines, as well as radiation therapy.
Contraindications
Severe bone-marrow suppression, severe anaemia, WBC
Dosage & Administration
Adult: PO Malignancies Chronic myeloid leukaemia: 20-30 mg/kg/day. Solid tumours: 80 mg/kg every third day. With radiotherapy, start treatment 7 days before initiation of radiotherapy. Sickle-cell disease Initial: 15 mg/kg/day. Max: 35 mg/kg/day. Adjust based on response and blood counts. Essential thrombocythemia 15 mg/kg/day. Adjust based on platelet counts.
Pregnancy & Lactation
This medicine is not allowed during pregnancy. Do not use it if you are pregnant. It can be absorbed through the skin and lungs caused can damage your unborn child’s organs and cause congenital disabilities. Strict effective birth control during treatment and for six months after stopping this medicine. If you do become pregnant, stop taking this medicine and discuss your doctor right away.
There is no specific information on whether this medicine passes into breast milk or not. Considering the possible risks for the children, breastfeeding while using this medicine is not recommended and at least two weeks after the last dose. Consult your doctor before breastfeeding.
