**Clindamycin:**
- Can make the effects of muscle relaxants (like atracurium) stronger.
- May reduce the effectiveness of drugs that act like parasympathetic stimulants.
- Can interfere with how certain antibiotics (such as macrolides, ketolides, streptogramins, linezolid, and chloramphenicol) work, possibly making them less effective.
- If taken with blood thinners (like warfarin, acenocoumarol, or fluindione), it may increase bleeding risk and alter blood clotting tests (prothrombin time/INR).
**Tretinoin:**
- Helps your skin absorb more minoxidil.
- Increases the risk of serious blood clots when used with antifibrinolytic drugs.
- Taking it with azole antifungals can raise tretinoin levels in your body.
- Can make the skin-peeling effects of sulphur, resorcinol, benzoyl peroxide, and salicylic acid stronger.
- Can make skin more sensitive to sunlight, especially when taken with certain medicines such as thiazides, tetracyclines, fluoroquinolones, phenothiazines, or sulfonamides.
**Serious Warning:**
- Using tretinoin with tetracyclines may increase the risk of dangerous brain pressure.
Do not use this medicine if you are allergic to clindamycin, tretinoin, or any of its other ingredients.
**Clindamycin:**
Clindamycin is an antibiotic that works by attaching to the 50S part of the bacteria’s ribosome. This stops bacteria from making proteins they need to grow and survive by blocking the process that builds protein chains. On the skin, it also helps lower the amount of surface fatty acids. While it’s helpful for treating acne, scientists aren’t exactly sure how it works for this purpose.
**Tretinoin:**
Tretinoin’s exact way of working isn’t fully understood. However, it seems to help by making the cells in hair follicles less likely to stick together, which reduces the formation of tiny clogged pores (microcomedones). It also speeds up the turnover of these cells, helping to push out existing comedones (blackheads and whiteheads).
At first wash the face or affected area gently with warm water or soap.
Clindacin plus gel: When the skin is completely dried (about 30 minutes later) apply a pea-size amount of Clindacin plus gel to your fingertip and spread it over your face once daily preferably at bed time. Treatment should be continued for 12 weeks or as directed by the physician.
Eye, lip or nose contact should be avoided while applying Clindacin plus gel.
Although animal reproduction studies have shown an adverse effect even sometimes unable to demonstrate the risk on the fetus and there are no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women, but during pregnancy, this medicine can be used just when definitely required.
