Drug Interactions

**Interaction with Other Drugs:**

- Using polyene antibiotics with these drugs can be problematic.
- Thiazide medicines can make the high blood sugar and low potassium side effects from corticosteroids worse.
- Taking NSAIDs with these drugs can increase the risk of stomach ulcers or bleeding.
- These drugs can change how your body responds to blood thinners (anticoagulants).
- If you are taking diabetes or blood pressure medicines, you might need higher doses because these drugs can reduce their effectiveness.
- They also lower the levels of salicylates and antimuscarinic drugs in your blood.
- Drinking alcohol may increase stomach irritation when taken with these drugs.
- Some medicines like carbamazepine, phenytoin, primidone, barbiturates, and rifampicin can make these drugs less effective.
- Using ciclosporin with corticosteroids can increase the levels of both drugs in your body due to interference with how they are broken down.
- These drugs can have a stronger effect in women who are taking oestrogen or birth control pills.

Mode of actions

Clotrimazole is a type of antifungal medicine that works by attaching to certain fats in the cell membrane of fungi. This changes the way the cell wall lets things in and out, causing the fungus to lose important materials it needs to survive.

Hydrocortisone is a steroid used to reduce inflammation and suppress the immune response. It helps with inflammation by stopping certain white blood cells from moving to the affected area and by decreasing leakage from blood vessels. Hydrocortisone can also be used to replace hormones in people who don’t produce enough natural steroids.

Adult: Apply a 1% cream/lotion/solution bid-tid for 2-4 wk,

Pregnancy & Lactation

Although animal reproduction studies have shown an adverse effect even sometimes unable to demonstrate the risk on the fetus and there are no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women, but during pregnancy, this medicine can be used just when definitely required.
