Precautions and warnings
Tell your doctor about any infections, kidney disease, liver disease, mental/mood disorders such as psychosis, anxiety, or depression, mineral imbalance such as low potassium/calcium in the blood, thyroid disease, stomach problems, high blood pressure, or heart disease before taking this medication.
Long-term use of corticosteroid drugs can make it harder for your body to respond to physical stress. Tell your doctor or dentist if you are using or have taken this medicine within the last 12 months before undergoing surgery or emergency treatment, or if you acquire a major illness. If you experience unusual exhaustion or weight loss, contact your doctor straight once. Carry a caution card or medical ID bracelet that identifies your usage of this drug if you will be using it for a long time.
This drug has the potential to conceal signs of infection. It may increase your risk of infection or worsen any present infections. Avoid coming into contact with somebody who has an infection that could transmit to others (such as chickenpox, measles, flu). If you think you've been exposed to an infection or want further information, talk to your doctor.
This medication has the potential to induce stomach bleeding. While using this prescription, drinking alcohol on a regular basis may raise your risk of stomach bleeding. Limit your intake of alcoholic beverages. For more information, talk to your doctor or pharmacist.
Before getting any immunizations or vaccinations, inform your doctor that you are taking dexamethasone. Contact with people who have just received live vaccinations should be avoided.

Drug Interactions
Aldesleukin, medications that induce bleeding like dabigatran/warfarin, NSAIDs like aspirin/celecoxib/ibuprofen, and mifepristone are some of the items that may interact with this drug.
This medicine has the potential to hasten the elimination of other medications from your body, potentially affecting their effectiveness. Some cancer medications (such as dasatinib, lapatinib, and sunitinib), praziquantel, and rilpivirine, among others, are affected.
If your doctor has prescribed low-dose aspirin (typically 81-162 mg per day) for heart attack or stroke prevention, you should stick to it unless your doctor tells you differently. For more information, consult your doctor.
Contraindications
Avoid this medicine if patients with a known hypersensitivity to the active ingredient to any component of this product, including sulfites
Mode of actions
Dexamethasone is a glucocorticoid that reduces inflammation by preventing leukocyte migration and reversing enhanced capillary permeability. It inhibits the immune system's usual reaction.
Dosage & Administration
Dexamethasone sodium phosphate injection, – For intravenous, intramuscular, intra-articular, intralesional, and soft tissue injection.
Dexamethasone can be given parenterally at doses of 0.5-20 mg daily, either as a single IV/IM injection or by IV infusion.
Child: 200-500 mcg/kg daily.
Cerebral oedema: 10 mg IV initially, then 4 mg IM every 6 hours as required for 2-10 days. Large IV doses should be given slowly to reduce the possibility of cardiovascular collapse.
Shock: By intravenous or intramascular injection or infusion 2-6 mg/kg, repeated if necessary after 2-6 hours. The total daily intake of Dexamethasone, even in acute conditions should not exceed 80 mg except in certain very special circumstances.
Pregnancy & Lactation
Although animal reproduction studies have shown an adverse effect on the fetus and there are no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women, but during pregnancy, this medicine can be used just when definitely required despite potential risks.
Mothers with a newborn baby who have used this drug during the last 3 months of pregnancy may seldom create symptoms including drowsiness, muscle stiffness or shakiness, feeding or breathing troubles, constant crying. If you notice any of these symptoms of your baby's particularly during their first month, tell the doctor immediately.
This medicine passes into breast milk. Talk to your doctor before breastfeeding.
