Blockage of the intestines, weak or inactive intestines, myasthenia gravis (a muscle weakness disorder), glaucoma (increased pressure in the eyes), acid reflux (reflux oesophagitis), and use in infants.
Dicycloverine HCl helps relax the muscles in the stomach, intestines, and urinary tract. It works in two ways: by blocking certain nerve signals (antimuscarinic action) and by directly relaxing the muscle itself.
Adults : 10 to 20 mg three to four times a day. Maximum recommended oral dose is 160 mg daily in divided dose.
Children : Children over 6 months of age- 5 to 10 mg three times a day. IM injection : Usual recommended injectable dose is 80 mg daily by IM route in 4 divided dose.
Although animal reproduction studies have shown an adverse effect even sometimes unable to demonstrate the risk on the fetus and there are no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women, but during pregnancy, this medicine can be used just when definitely required.
