Fluorometholone 0.1% + Tetrahydrozoline Hydrochloride 0.025% Eye prep Similar medicine
- Do not use this medication for long periods if you are pregnant or if it is for an infant.
- Be careful if you are taking MAO inhibitors and need this medication.
- Do not use these eye drops while wearing soft contact lenses. Take out your lenses before using the drops, and wait at least 15 minutes before putting them back in.
- Shake the bottle well before each use.
Do not use this medication in the following situations:
- If you have a viral infection of the cornea or conjunctiva, such as from Herpes simplex.
- If you have a fungal infection in the cornea or conjunctiva.
- If you have a tuberculosis infection.
- If you have corneal ulcers.
- If you are allergic to any of the ingredients in this medicine.
Fluorometholone reduces inflammation by stopping certain white blood cells from moving to the affected area and by lowering the leakiness of small blood vessels.
It may also slightly narrow blood vessels in the eye’s surface by stimulating specific receptors, leading to less redness. When used in typical doses for eye conditions, it rarely causes significant pupil widening (mydriasis).
Adults and children (above 2 years of age):
Instill 1-2 drops into conjunctivalsac 2-3 times daily. Dose may be increased to 1 drop hourly during first 24-48 hr.
Although animal reproduction studies have shown an adverse effect on the fetus and there are no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women, but during pregnancy, this medicine can be used just when definitely required despite potential risks.
Mothers with a newborn baby who have used this drug during the last 3 months of pregnancy may seldom create symptoms including drowsiness, muscle stiffness or shakiness, feeding or breathing troubles, constant crying. If you notice any of these symptoms of your baby's particularly during their first month, tell the doctor immediately.
This medicine passes into breast milk. Talk to your doctor before breastfeeding.
