Precautions and warnings

Tell your doctor if you have any of the following medical conditions: asthma, an overactive thyroid, emphysema, stomach problems, seizures, heart problems, liver disease, ulcers, glaucoma, high blood pressure, blockage, difficulty urinating due to an enlarged prostate,

This medication may cause dizziness, drowsiness, or blurred vision. You may become dizzy or sleepy if you consume alcohol or cannabis. Do not drive, operate machinery, or perform any other activity that requires alertness or clear vision until you are sure you can do so safely. Limit your intake of alcoholic beverages. If you use cannabis, talk to your doctor.

Get up gently while rising from a sitting or lying posture to avoid dizziness and lightheadedness.

Aspartame, sugar, or alcohol may be present in liquid products. If you have diabetes, alcoholism, liver illness, phenylketonuria, or any other condition that necessitates you to avoid these compounds in your diet, proceed with caution. Consult your doctor or pharmacist for advice on how to use this medicine safely.

Drug Interactions

Antihistamines applied to the skin, such as diphenhydramine lotion, ointment, or spray, may interact with this medication.

Tell your doctor if you're using any other drowsy medications, such as opioid pain relievers like codeine, cetirizine, muscle relaxants like carisoprodol, zolpidem, lorazepam, cannabis, or diphenhydramine, sleep or anxiety medications like alprazolam, alcohol.

Dexchlorpheniramine and chlorpheniramine are quite similar. When taking chlorpheniramine, avoid taking drugs that include dexchlorpheniramine.

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to the active ingredient, Neonates.

Mode of actions

Chlorphenamine is an H1-receptor antagonist which competetively blocks H1-receptor sites on tissues.

Dosage & Administration

Adult: 4 mg every 4-6 hr. Max: 24 mg daily.
Child: 1-2 yr: 1 mg bid, 2-5 yr: 1 mg every 4-6 hr, 6-12 yr: 2 mg every 4-6 hr. Max: 6 mg daily (1-5 yr); 12 mg daily (6-12 yr).

Parenteral
Adjunct in the emergency treatment of anaphylactic shock
Adult: 10-20 mg IM, SC, or slow IV inj over 1 min. Max dose: 40 mg daily.
Child: 87.5 mcg/kg SC 4 times daily

Pregnancy & Lactation

Although animal reproduction studies have shown an adverse effect even sometimes unable to demonstrate the risk on the fetus and there are no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women, but during pregnancy, this medicine can be used just when definitely required.
