Avoid use in patients who often get blood transfusions. Use with caution during pregnancy.
Taking iron by mouth with vitamin C (ascorbic acid) can help your body absorb more iron. However, if you take iron at the same time as antibiotics like quinolones or tetracyclines, your body may not absorb those antibiotics as well. Also, taking iron with antacids can lower the amount of iron your body absorbs from your stomach. Taking iron together with penicillamine (a medicine for some conditions) can also make your body absorb less penicillamine.
