Priming: Before you use the Nasal Spray for the first time, press down and release 5 sprays (or until you see a fine mist). If you haven’t used the Nasal Spray for more than 7 days, press and release 2 sprays to re-prime it. Do not spray the Nasal Spray into your eyes.
Tell patients not to spray the Nasal Spray into their eyes.
May cause increased drowsiness or sedation when taken with other medications that depress the central nervous system (CNS).
Do not use this medication if you are allergic to olopatadine or any of its ingredients.
Olopatadine is a medicine that mainly blocks histamine H1 receptors and helps stop the release of histamine from certain cells called mast cells. It also prevents histamine from affecting the cells on the surface of the eye. Olopatadine works in a similar way to other drugs known as mast cell stabilizers.
Adults and Adolescents 12 years of age and older: Two sprays per nostril twice daily.
Children 6 to 11 years of age: One spray per nostril twice daily.
Although animal reproduction studies have shown an adverse effect on the fetus and there are no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women, but during pregnancy, this medicine can be used just when definitely required despite potential risks.
Mothers with a newborn baby who have used this drug during the last 3 months of pregnancy may seldom create symptoms including drowsiness, muscle stiffness or shakiness, feeding or breathing troubles, constant crying. If you notice any of these symptoms of your baby's particularly during their first month, tell the doctor immediately.
This medicine passes into breast milk. Talk to your doctor before breastfeeding.
