Precautions and warnings
Infections of the nasal passages and paranasal sinuses should be treated correctly.
If there is any concern about a patient's adrenal function, proceed with caution while switching them from systemic steroid medication to Beclometasone Dipropionate Aqueous Nasal Spray.
Nasal corticosteroids can have systemic effects, especially when taken in high doses for lengthy periods of time. Children taking approved levels of nasal corticosteroids have shown signs of growth retardation.
Higher-than-recommended doses of medication can cause clinically substantial adrenal suppression. Additional systemic corticosteroid cover should be explored during periods of stress or elective surgery if there is evidence for higher than prescribed doses being administered.
Side-effects
- Systemic effects of nasal corticosteroids may occur
- particularly when prescribed at high doses for prolonged periods. Such effects may include hypothalmic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) suppression
- growth retardation in children. Rare cases of nasal septal perforation have been reported following the use of intranasal corticosteroids. Rare cases of raised intra-ocular pressure or glaucoma have been reported. As with other nasal sprays
- dryness
- irritation of the nose
- throat
- unpleasant taste
- smell
- epistaxis have been reported rarely.
Contraindications
people who have had a history of hypersensitivity to one or more of the ingredients
Mode of actions
To prevent or control inflammation, beclometasone slows protein synthesis, inhibits the migration of polymorphonuclear leukocytes and fibroblasts, reverses capillary permeability, and stabilizes lysosomes at the cellular level.
Dosage & Administration
Adults and Children 12 Years of Age and Older: The usual dosage is one or two inhalations in each nostril twice a day .
Children 6 to 12 Years of Age: Patients should be started with one inhalation in each nostril twice a day; patients with more severe symptoms may use two inhalations in each nostril.
Beclomethasone dipropionate nasal spray is not recommended for children below 6 years of age.
Pregnancy & Lactation
Although animal reproduction studies have shown an adverse effect on the fetus and there are no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women, but during pregnancy, this medicine can be used just when definitely required despite potential risks.
Mothers with a newborn baby who have used this drug during the last 3 months of pregnancy may seldom create symptoms including drowsiness, muscle stiffness or shakiness, feeding or breathing troubles, constant crying. If you notice any of these symptoms of your baby's particularly during their first month, tell the doctor immediately.
This medicine passes into breast milk. Talk to your doctor before breastfeeding.
