Fucithalmic viscous Eye Drops is indicated for

- Conjunctivitis

Precautions and warnings
Liver problems: Check liver function regularly. Use with caution in newborns, pregnant women, and breastfeeding mothers.
Side-effects
- Jaundice
- liver dysfunction (reversible); GI disturbances. IV: Venospasm
- thrombophloebitis
- haemolysis; hypocalcaemia. SC/IM: Tissue necrosis. Topical: Rashes
- irritation.
Drug Interactions
Works better when used together with antistaphylococcal penicillin. Works less well (antagonistic) when used with ciprofloxacin.
Mode of actions
Fusidic acid works by stopping bacteria from making proteins. It does this by blocking the process that moves building blocks of proteins into place, so the bacteria can't grow or survive.
Dosage & Administration
Susceptible infections Adult: 500 mg tid. May increase to 1 g tid in fulminating infections.
Child: 2 yr: As 1% eye drops: Instill 1 drop into the affected eye every 12 hr for 7 days.
Pregnancy & Lactation
Although animal reproduction studies have shown an adverse effect on the fetus and there are no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women, but during pregnancy, this medicine can be used just when definitely required despite potential risks.
Mothers with a newborn baby who have used this drug during the last 3 months of pregnancy may seldom create symptoms including drowsiness, muscle stiffness or shakiness, feeding or breathing troubles, constant crying. If you notice any of these symptoms of your baby's particularly during their first month, tell the doctor immediately.
This medicine passes into breast milk. Talk to your doctor before breastfeeding.
