Eptifibatide is a small, ring-shaped protein made of seven amino acids. It works by blocking a specific receptor on platelets called glycoprotein IIb/IIIa. This prevents platelets from clumping together, which helps reduce the risk of blood clots forming.
Adult: IV:
Acute Coronary Syndrome
• In patients with normal renal function: The recommended adult dosage is an IV bolus of 180 mcg/kg as soon as possible following diagnosis, followed by a continuous infusion of 2.0 mcg/kg/min until hospital discharge or initiation of CABG surgery, up to 72 hours. If a patient is to undergo a PCI the infusion should be continued up to hospital discharge, or for up to 18 to 24 hours after the procedure, whichever comes first, allowing for up to 96 hours of therapy.
• In patients with creatinine clearance
Although animal reproduction studies have shown an adverse effect even sometimes unable to demonstrate the risk on the fetus and there are no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women, but during pregnancy, this medicine can be used just when definitely required.
