These medicines are similar to ibuprofen, and taking them together may raise your risk of negative effects. Ibuprofen use on a regular basis may reduce aspirin's efficacy to prevent heart attacks. Consult your doctor about using a different pain reliever or fever reducer, such as acetaminophen. If you must take ibuprofen, discuss with your doctor the possibility of taking an immediate-release aspirin at the same time. Ibuprofen should be taken at least 8 hours before or after your aspirin dose. Without your doctor's permission, do not raise your daily aspirin dose or change the method you take aspirin or other medications.
