Do not use in people with glaucoma, high eye pressure, narrowing of the stomach or duodenum due to ulcers, blockage between the stomach and small intestine, enlarged prostate, bladder neck blockage, heart disease, diabetes, or serious liver problems. Not recommended during pregnancy or for elderly patients. Tablets should be swallowed whole—do not break, chew, or dissolve them.
**Loratadine:**
Taking ritonavir or amprenavir can increase loratadine levels in the body. Loratadine levels may also go up if you take erythromycin, cimetidine, or ketoconazole, but this usually does not cause any serious problems or side effects. Loratadine may reduce the effects of betahistine.
**Pseudoephedrine:**
Using pseudoephedrine with atomoxetine can cause more side effects, such as sleepiness or feeling agitated. Taking it with sibutramine may raise your blood pressure or heart rate.
**Serious Warnings (Potentially Fatal):**
- Using pseudoephedrine with bromocriptine can increase the risk of psychosis (mental disturbances).
- Never take pseudoephedrine together with MAOIs (a type of antidepressant), or within two weeks after stopping an MAOI, as it can cause a dangerous and possibly fatal increase in blood pressure.
- Pseudoephedrine can also raise blood pressure if combined with linezolid or selegiline.
Breastfeeding, narrow-angle glaucoma, trouble urinating, severe high blood pressure, serious heart disease, and overactive thyroid are all conditions to be careful about. This medicine should not be used by people taking MAOIs or for 14 days after stopping an MAOI.
Loratadine is an antihistamine that works for a long time without making you sleepy and causes very few side effects like dry mouth. Pseudoephedrine helps clear a stuffy nose by narrowing blood vessels in the nose, which reduces swelling in the upper airways.
