Mesacol is indicated for

Precautions and warnings
輕度至中度的腎或肝功能障礙（治療前檢測血清肌酸酐，第一年每 3 個月檢測一次，接下來 4 年每 6 個月檢測一次，然後每年檢測一次）。 有心包膜炎或心肌炎風險的患者包括老年人、患有活動性消化性潰瘍的患者、孕婦或哺乳期患者以及易患心包膜炎或心肌炎的患者。 在治療期間，建議患者報告任何不明原因的出血、瘀傷、紫斑、喉嚨痛、發燒或不適；進行血球計數，如果發現血液惡液質則停止用藥。 建議正在服用緩釋藥的患者定期報告糞便中未破碎或部分破碎的藥片。 幽門狹窄會導致食物進入結腸的延遲。 患有肺部疾病，尤其是氣喘的患者，在整個治療過程中應密切追蹤。 柳氮磺吡啶過敏。 對於有柳氮磺吡啶過敏史的患者，只能在醫療監督下開始治療。 如果您出現急性不耐受症狀，例如腹部痙攣、突然腹痛、發燒、劇烈頭痛或皮疹，您應該立即停止服藥。 兒童人口 對於兒童的影響，只有少量證據（6-18 歲）。
Side-effects
- 腹痛（如果出現新的腹痛 - 考慮胰臟炎）；頭痛，噁心；流感;疲勞;發燒，皮疹；咽喉痛;腹瀉;關節疼痛；頭暈;腹脹；背痛；痔瘡；搔癢;直腸疼痛，便秘；脫髮；不耐受症候群；外周水腫;泌尿道感染；心肌炎，已有的心包肝炎;潛在致命：血液惡液質、再生不良性貧血、粒細胞缺乏症；腎毒性。
Drug Interactions
當給予乳果糖或其他降低 pH 值的藥物時，美沙拉嗪的釋放會受到抑制。 地高辛吸收可能會減少。
Contraindications
對水楊酸鹽、氨基水楊酸鹽或產品中的任何其他成分不耐受。 - 嚴重腎衰竭（腎絲球濾過率低於每分鐘 30 毫升）。 - 嚴重肝臟疾病。 - 胃和十二指腸潰瘍 - 兩歲以下的嬰兒和幼兒。
Mode of actions
柳氮磺吡啶含有活性成分美沙拉嗪（5-氨基水楊酸），但確切的 MOA 尚不確定；它被認為可以抑制前列腺素和白三烯在結腸中的合成和釋放。
Dosage & Administration
用於治療輕度至中度活動性潰瘍性結腸炎：成人的常用劑量為兩片 400 mg 片劑，每天服用 3 次，每日總劑量為 2.4 克，持續 6 週。 用於維持潰瘍性結腸炎的緩解：成人的建議劑量為每天 1.6 克，分次服用。 前瞻性、良好對照試驗的治療時間為 6 個月。
兒童：劑量取決於製劑和所用品牌。 錠劑：5-15 歲：急性發作：15-20 mg/kg（最大：1 g）tid；維持緩解：10 mg/kg（最大：500 mg），每日 2-3 次。
克隆氏症：800毫克，每日3次。
Pregnancy & Lactation
雖然動物生殖研究顯示出不良影響，甚至有時無法證明對胎兒的風險，並且在孕婦中沒有充分和良好對照的研究，但在懷孕期間，這種藥物可以在確實需要時使用。
