Amoxicillin + Clarithromycin + Lansoprazole Kit Similar medicine
Patients taking penicillin, particularly amoxicillin, have experienced serious and sometimes deadly hypersensitivity (anaphylactic) responses. Anaphylaxis is more common after parenteral medication, but it has also happened in people taking oral penicillins. Individuals with a history of penicillin hypersensitivity and/or multiple allergen sensitivity are more prone to experience these reactions.
Amoxicillin: Amoxicillin may impair the effectiveness of OC. Anticoagulant effects may be amplified. Allopurinol increases the risk of allergic responses. Probenecid causes increased and prolonged blood levels. Chloramphenicol, macrolides, sulfonamides, and tetracyclines can all interfere with amoxicillin's bactericidal action.
Clarithromycin: Serious side effects have been recorded in persons taking Clarithromycin and CYP3A4 substrates at the same time. Colchicine toxicity; rhabdomyolysis with simvastatin, lovastatin, and atorvastatin; hypotension and acute kidney injury with calcium channel blockers metabolized by CYP3A4; and hypotension and severe renal injury with calcium channel blockers metabolized by CYP3A4 (for example, verapamil, amlodipine, diltiazem, nifedipine). The majority of cases of acute renal damage associated with calcium channel blockers metabolized by CYP3A4 involved elderly patients aged 65 and over.
Along with diuretics and digoxin, lansoprazole increases the risk of hypomagnesaemia. Erlotinib, dasatinib, and lapatinib plasma concentrations may be reduced. Itraconazole and ketoconazole's bioavailability may be reduced. Cilostazol and methotrexate plasma concentrations may be increased. Antacids and sucralfate both reduce bioavailability.
Rilpivirine and atazanavir serum levels and pharmacological effects may be reduced, which could be fatal.
In patients who have a history of extreme hypersensitivity to any of the components, it is not recommended. Clarithromycin is not recommended for patients who have had cholestatic jaundice or hepatic dysfunction as a result of previous clarithromycin use. Patients having a history of QT prolongation or ventricular cardiac arrhythmia, especially torsades de pointes, should not use clarithromycin.
A history of severe hypersensitivity responses to amoxicillin or other beta-lactam antibiotics (such as penicillins and cephalosporins) (such as anaphylaxis or Stevens-Johnson syndrome) is a contraindication.
Patients who have a known hypersensitivity to clarithromycin, erythromycin, or any of the macrolide antibiotics should avoid taking clarithromycin.
In patients with a CrCl of less than 30 mL/min, amoxicillin/clarithromycin/lansoprazole is not indicated.
Proton pump inhibitor lansoprazole binds to the H+/K+-exchanging ATPase (proton pump) in gastric parietal cells, preventing acid production.
Amoxicillin blocks the last transpeptidation stage of peptidoglycan production in cell wall biosynthesis by binding to one or more penicillin-binding proteins.
Clarithromycin is an antibiotic that inhibits protein synthesis by attaching to the 50S ribosomal subunit.
One strip twice daily for 7-14 days or as per the physicians advice.
Although animal reproduction studies have shown an adverse effect even sometimes unable to demonstrate the risk on the fetus and there are no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women, but during pregnancy, this medicine can be used just when definitely required.
