Spersallerg is indicated for
- Conjunctivitis
- Keratitis
- Inflammatory eye conditions
- Hay-fever
Precautions and warnings
Do not use it on newborns or children under the age of six. Long-term use can result in rebound congestion. If you get ocular pain or visual abnormalities, stop taking it. Lactation and pregnancy.
Side-effects
- Hypersensitivity reactions. Skin sensitization. Headache
- hypertension
- tremors
- weakness
- sweating
- rebound congestion with prolonged use. Nasal: transient burning
- stinging
- sneezing
- dryness of mucosa. Eye: blurred vision
- irritation
- mydriasis.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity.
Mode of actions
Antazoline is an antihistamine that is derived from ethylenediamine.
Tetryzoline is an adrenergic sympathomimetic with little or no impact on adrenergic receptors.
Dosage & Administration
Adult: Ophth As soln containing antazoline 0.5% and xylometazoline HCI 0.05%: Apply 1-2 drops 2-3 times/day.
Adult: Ophth Conjunctival decongestant As 0.01-0.05% soln: Instill 1-2 drops up to 4 times/day for 3-4 days unless directed.
Nasal Nasal congestion As 0.1% soln: Instill 2-4 drops/sprays not more often than 3 hrly. Max duration: 3-5 days.
Pregnancy & Lactation
Although animal reproduction studies have shown an adverse effect on the fetus and there are no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women, but during pregnancy, this medicine can be used just when definitely required despite potential risks.
Mothers with a newborn baby who have used this drug during the last 3 months of pregnancy may seldom create symptoms including drowsiness, muscle stiffness or shakiness, feeding or breathing troubles, constant crying. If you notice any of these symptoms of your baby's particularly during their first month, tell the doctor immediately.
This medicine passes into breast milk. Talk to your doctor before breastfeeding.
