Precautions and warnings
Low blood pressure; pregnancy; breastfeeding; older adults. May cause drowsiness or dizziness, so avoid driving or operating machines.

Drug Interactions
The drowsiness and calming effects on the brain increase when taken with alcohol. The medication’s effect is stronger if used together with domperidone.
Contraindications
Do not use this medicine if you are allergic to it, have Parkinson’s disease, or if the patient is a child or a newborn.
Mode of actions
Cinnarizine works by blocking calcium channels mostly in the muscles of arteries. It also has some antihistamine effects. Cinnarizine helps calm the inner ear and can reduce dizziness. Additionally, it improves blood flow by making the blood less thick when there is a reduced supply of oxygen (ischaemia).
Dosage & Administration
Adult: PO 15 to 30 mg three times daily. Peripheral vascular diseases 75 mg 2-3 times/day. Motion sickness 30 mg 2 hr before travel and 15 mg 8 hrly during travel if needed. Cerebrovascular disorders 75 mg 1-3 times/day. Vertigo and vestibular disorders 30 mg 3 times/day.
Children (5 to 12 years): Half of the adult dose.
Pregnancy & Lactation
Although animal reproduction studies have shown an adverse effect on the fetus and there are no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women, but during pregnancy, this medicine can be used just when definitely required despite potential risks.
Mothers with a newborn baby who have used this drug during the last 3 months of pregnancy may seldom create symptoms including drowsiness, muscle stiffness or shakiness, feeding or breathing troubles, constant crying. If you notice any of these symptoms of your baby's particularly during their first month, tell the doctor immediately.
This medicine passes into breast milk. Talk to your doctor before breastfeeding.
