Solotear is indicated for
- Dry eye
- Neonatal Conjunctivitis
- Keratoconjunctivitis sicca
Precautions and warnings
If you have blurred vision after using this product, do not drive or use machines until your vision returns to normal. Do not wear contact lenses while putting in the product. Wait at least 30 minutes after using the product before putting your contact lenses back in.
Side-effects
- Occasionally mild-transient burning or sticky sensation
- very rarely irritation or hypersensitivity reactions reported. Blurred vision after application may occur.
Contraindications
Do not use this medicine if you are allergic to it, have thyroid problems, or are taking lithium for a long time. It should also not be given to very young babies or newborns who have a low birth weight.
Mode of actions
Povidone-iodine is a type of disinfectant that can kill many types of germs, including bacteria, viruses, fungi, protozoa, and spores. It is also used to kill germs (microbicidal) and as a lubricant for the eyes.
Dosage & Administration
Adult: 1 drop 4 times daily or as required, depending upon the severity of the disease, to be instilled into the conjunctival sac.
Pregnancy & Lactation
This medicine is not allowed during pregnancy. Do not use it if you are pregnant. It can be absorbed through the skin and lungs caused can damage your unborn child’s organs and cause congenital disabilities. Strict effective birth control during treatment and for six months after stopping this medicine. If you do become pregnant, stop taking this medicine and discuss your doctor right away.
There is no specific information on whether this medicine passes into breast milk or not. Considering the possible risks for the children, breastfeeding while using this medicine is not recommended and at least two weeks after the last dose. Consult your doctor before breastfeeding.
