Using this medicine with other drugs that lower potassium, like amphotericin B and loop diuretics, can increase the risk of low potassium levels (hypokalaemia). It can also make medicines like isoniazid, salicylates, vaccines, and toxoids work less well. When taken together with dexamethasone or cyclosporin, the effects of these drugs may be stronger. Taking this medicine with aspirin or alcohol can increase the risk of stomach and digestive side effects.
Serious Warning: This medicine may be less effective if taken with ephedrine, cholestyramine, phenytoin, phenobarbital, or rifampicin. This combination can be dangerous.

Dexamethasone is a man-made steroid that reduces inflammation by stopping white blood cells from moving to the affected area and by helping blood vessels return to normal. It also lowers the body’s usual immune response.
Usual oral dosage range is 0.5-10 mg daily.
Dexamethasone can be given parenterally at doses of 0.5-20 mg daily, either as a single IV/IM injection or by IV infusion.
Child: 200-500 mcg/kg daily. Cerebral oedema: 10 mg IV initially, then 4 mg IM every 6 hours as required for 2-10 days. Large IV doses should be given slowly to reduce the possibility of cardiovascular collapse.
Shock: By intravenous or intramascular injection or infusion 2-6 mg/kg, repeated if necessary after 2-6 hours.
The total daily intake of Dexamethasone, even in acute conditions should not exceed 80 mg except in certain very special circumstances.
