Fusigal is indicated for

  • Lichen planus
  • Psoriasis
  • Eczema
  • Contact dermatitis
  • Seborrhoeic dermatitis
  • Systemic lupus erythematosus
  • Lichen simplex
  • Prurigo nodularis
  • Sunburns

Precautions and warnings

Continued treatment should be avoided, especially in infants and children. Contact sensitization and the development of antibiotic resistance are both possible side effects of long-term therapy. If there is no clinical improvement after 7 days, discontinue usage. Glaucoma risk is increased if the preparation gets into the eye (s). Lactation and pregnancy.

Side-effects

  • Prolonged intensive treatment may cause local atrophic changes in the skin e.g. striae
  • thining
  • dilatation of superficial blood vessels. Dryness
  • itching
  • irritation
  • hypopigmentation
  • burning sensation at the site of application or miliaria.

Contraindications

Viral, fungal, and bacterial skin lesions, acne rosacea, and perioral dermatitis.

Mode of actions

Inflammatory dermatoses respond well to betamethasone valerate, a topical corticosteroid. Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococci, Corynebacteria, Neisseria, and certain Clostridia and Bacteroides are all susceptible to topical fusidic acid. When fusidic acid is combined with betamethasone, its antibacterial action is not diminished.

Dosage & Administration

Adult: Topical As cream containing fusidic acid 2% and betamethasone valerate 0.1%: Apply twice daily. Usual duration: Up to 2 wk/course.

Pregnancy & Lactation

FDA has not yet classified this medicine into a specified pregnancy category. Although there is no enough evidence that taking this medicine during you are pregnant is harmful.

Discuss with your doctor if you are trying to get pregnant while taking this medicine too.

If you do become pregnant while you are taking this medicine, you should continue to take it and contact with your doctors as quickly as possible. They can assist you to decide whether or not to keep taking this medicine. If you abandon taking this medicine and become sick, this would be more pernicious to your child than staying on the medication.


There is no specific information about whether this medicine is passed on to the baby through breast milk. During this medication, if your baby becomes very sleepy, restless, fatigued, exhibit feeding problems, stop breastfeeding and talk to your doctors very quickly.
