Taking it with MAO inhibitors (MAOIs) can cause a dangerous increase in blood pressure (hypertensive crisis). It may also interact with anesthetics like cyclopropane, halothane, and other halogenated anesthetics, as well as with medicines that lower blood pressure.

Contraindications

Severe hypertension, phaeochromocytoma.

Mode of actions

Fexofenadine is a medicine that comes from another drug called terfenadine. It works by blocking histamine H1 receptors outside the brain, which helps reduce allergy symptoms in the digestive system, blood vessels, and airways.

Pseudoephedrine works by activating both alpha (?) and beta (?) adrenergic receptors. When it stimulates ?-adrenergic receptors in the lining of the nose and airways, it causes blood vessels to tighten, which reduces swelling and stuffiness. When it activates ?-adrenergic receptors, it relaxes the muscles in the airways, helping you breathe easier, and also increases your heart rate and how strongly your heart beats.
