Precautions and warnings
Do not take more than 12 doses in one day unless your doctor tells you to and is supervising your treatment. Always keep this medicine out of reach of children.
Side-effects
- Simethicone is physiologically inert
- no adverse effect has been reported after oral ingestion.
Contraindications
There is no known information about any reasons not to use Simethicone.
Mode of actions
It reduces the surface tension of gas bubbles, causing foam bubbles to break apart. This helps gas move through the digestive system more easily and prevents gas from getting trapped.
Dosage & Administration
Simethicone drops should be taken after meals and at bedtime or as directed by the physician.
Children younger than 2 years of age: 20 mg (0.3 ml drops) 4 times daily up to 240 mg/day (3.6 ml drops).
Children 2 to12 years of age: 40 mg (0.6 ml drops) 4 times daily.
Adults and children older than 12 years of age: 40 to 80 mg (0.6 to 1.2 ml drops) 4 times daily up to 500 mg/day (7.5 ml drops).
Pregnancy & Lactation
Adequate and well-controlled human studies have failed to demonstrate a risk to the fetus in the first trimester of pregnancy and there is not enough evidence of risk in later trimesters.
