Precautions and warnings
If someone has poor kidney function, ongoing severe diarrhea, or other serious fluid loss, they may need fluids given by IV in addition to drinking saline solutions. Reconstituted saline should be used within 6 hours.

Mode of actions
Potassium chloride is an important mineral found inside the body’s cells. It helps send nerve signals in the heart, brain, and muscles. It is also needed for muscle contractions, keeping the kidneys healthy, balancing acids and bases in the body, metabolizing carbohydrates, and producing stomach acid.
Sodium chloride is the main mineral found outside the body’s cells. It is important for keeping the right balance of fluids and electrolytes, controlling water movement in the body, and maintaining blood pressure. It is used to provide fluids and electrolytes, treat dehydration and metabolic acidosis, prepare for dialysis, and manage high blood sugar with dehydration. It can also be used to dilute medicines that are given by infusion.
Dextrose is a simple sugar used to provide the body with energy and fluids. It helps prevent the body from losing too much protein and nitrogen, and encourages the storage of energy in the liver. When used with insulin, dextrose helps move potassium from the blood into the body’s cells, especially in muscles, which lowers potassium levels in the blood.
Dosage & Administration
Daily dose should be equivalent to patients' fluid requirement for maintenance and replenishment of losses. During ORS therapy mother should not stop breast-feeding to their child and normal food should be continued in case of adults. Children less than 2 years: After each loose stool or vomiting 10 to 20 spoonful (50-100 ml) of prepared saline. Children 2 to 10 years: After each loose stool or vomiting 100-200 ml of prepared oral saline. Adult and children above 10 years: After each loose stool or vomiting 200-400 ml of prepared saline.
Pregnancy & Lactation
FDA has not yet classified this medicine into a specified pregnancy category. Although there is no enough evidence that taking this medicine during you are pregnant is harmful.
Discuss with your doctor if you are trying to get pregnant while taking this medicine too.
If you do become pregnant while you are taking this medicine, you should continue to take it and contact with your doctors as quickly as possible. They can assist you to decide whether or not to keep taking this medicine. If you abandon taking this medicine and become sick, this would be more pernicious to your child than staying on the medication.
There is no specific information about whether this medicine is passed on to the baby through breast milk. During this medication, if your baby becomes very sleepy, restless, fatigued, exhibit feeding problems, stop breastfeeding and talk to your doctors very quickly.
