Drug Interactions
Antacids can lower the amount of famotidine that your body absorbs. They may also reduce the levels of ketoconazole and itraconazole in your blood.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity.
Mode of actions
Famotidine works by blocking histamine from attaching to H2-receptors in the stomach. This lowers the amount of stomach acid produced, both during the day and at night, as well as after eating. It also reduces the amount of pepsin, an enzyme that helps digest food, which leads to less peptic activity.
Dosage & Administration
Benign peptic ulceration: 40 mg at night for 4-8 weeks. Maintenance: 20 mg at night.
Reflux oesophagitis: 20-40 mg twice daily for 6-12 weeks.
Zollinger Ellison syndrome: 20 mg every 6 hours.
Pregnancy & Lactation
Although animal reproduction studies have shown an adverse effect even sometimes unable to demonstrate the risk on the fetus and there are no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women, but during pregnancy, this medicine can be used just when definitely required.

There is no specific information about whether this medicine is passed on to the baby through breast milk. Discuss with your doctor before breastfeeding.
