Precautions and warnings
People with serious kidney or liver problems, low thyroid levels, poor nutrition, or low body temperature need to be careful with this medication. It should also be used with caution in people who already have low blood pressure. It can make chest pain worse if you have a condition called hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. After using this treatment for a long time, your body may get used to it so it doesn't work as well. Use with caution if you are breastfeeding.

Drug Interactions
The risk of low blood pressure is higher if this medicine is taken with alcohol or other drugs that widen blood vessels. Using it with calcium channel blockers can cause severe dizziness when standing up due to a drop in blood pressure.
Warning: Taking this medicine with phosphodiesterase-5 inhibitors (like those used for erectile dysfunction) can cause dangerously low blood pressure.
Contraindications
Very low blood pressure or severe anaemia, low blood volume, heart failure caused by a blockage, or increased pressure in the brain from head injury or bleeding in the brain.
Mode of actions
Isosorbide mononitrate helps relax the muscles in blood vessel walls by increasing a substance called cyclic-GMP. This relaxation lowers the pressure in the heart’s left ventricle (preload) and reduces the resistance in the arteries (afterload).
Dosage & Administration
Adult: PO 20 mg 2-3 times/day. Usual range: 20-120 mg/day.
As LA form: One capsule once daily.
Pregnancy & Lactation
Although animal reproduction studies have shown an adverse effect on the fetus and there are no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women, but during pregnancy, this medicine can be used just when definitely required despite potential risks.
Mothers with a newborn baby who have used this drug during the last 3 months of pregnancy may seldom create symptoms including drowsiness, muscle stiffness or shakiness, feeding or breathing troubles, constant crying. If you notice any of these symptoms of your baby's particularly during their first month, tell the doctor immediately.
This medicine passes into breast milk. Talk to your doctor before breastfeeding.
