Drug Interactions

This medication can increase the risk of methotrexate side effects. It can also make blood pressure drugs like ACE inhibitors and angiotensin II receptor blockers less effective. The risk of serious stomach problems, such as ulcers, goes up when taken with aspirin. There’s also a higher chance of stomach bleeding if used with warfarin. It can make water pills like furosemide or thiazide diuretics less effective. Taking this medication may raise lithium levels in the blood and reduce how quickly the kidneys clear lithium. Absorption may be slower if used with antacids, colestyramine, or sucralfate. It may also weaken the effect of blood pressure medicines called beta-blockers (like propranolol) and cause higher blood levels if taken with probenecid.

Contraindications

Mode of actions
