Precautions and warnings
Elderly people may experience fainting or dizziness, especially after the first dose. Use caution during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Drug Interactions
Taking this medication together with phosphodiesterase-5 (PDE-5) inhibitors, like sildenafil, can lead to a stronger blood pressure-lowering effect, which may cause symptoms of low blood pressure. There is also a risk of significant low blood pressure if it is used with other blood pressure medicines, such as verapamil.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to quinazoline derivatives.
Mode of actions
Terazosin is a medication that blocks certain receptors in the body called alpha-1 adrenoceptors. By blocking these receptors, it helps relax the muscles in blood vessels, which lowers blood pressure. It also relaxes the muscles at the neck of the bladder, making it easier to urinate by reducing blockage at the bladder outlet.
Dosage & Administration
Adult: PO HTN; Benign prostatic hyperplasia Initial: 1 mg at bedtime, gradually increase if needed. Maintenance: 2-10 mg once daily (HTN); 5-10 mg once daily (benign prostatic hyperplasia). Max: 20 mg/day in 1-2 divided doses.
Pregnancy & Lactation
Although animal reproduction studies have shown an adverse effect on the fetus and there are no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women, but during pregnancy, this medicine can be used just when definitely required despite potential risks.
Mothers with a newborn baby who have used this drug during the last 3 months of pregnancy may seldom create symptoms including drowsiness, muscle stiffness or shakiness, feeding or breathing troubles, constant crying. If you notice any of these symptoms of your baby's particularly during their first month, tell the doctor immediately.
This medicine passes into breast milk. Talk to your doctor before breastfeeding.
