Mode of actions

Hydrochlorothiazide enhances salt and chloride excretion in the kidneys while lowering the cardiac load. Losartan is an antihypertensive angiotensin II receptor (type AT1) antagonist that works by blocking angiotensin II's effects in the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system. Angiotensin II's vasoconstrictor and aldosterone-secreting actions are selectively blocked by the medication and its active metabolite. In hypertension, the two medicines have a synergistic impact.
