Drug Interactions
This medication can reduce how well dasatinib, ketoconazole, itraconazole, and posaconazole are absorbed by the body. It may also increase the levels of phenytoin, theophylline, lidocaine, hydroxyzine, and blood thinners in your blood. Taking antacids may lower how much of this medicine your body absorbs. Medications like metoclopramide, sucralfate, or propantheline can also reduce how well your body absorbs it. Lastly, it may make the side effects of drugs or treatments that suppress bone marrow (like some cancer medicines or radiation) worse, increasing risks such as low white blood cells.
Mode of actions
Cimetidine works by blocking histamine from attaching to H2 receptors on the stomach’s parietal cells. This action lowers the amount of stomach acid produced, as well as the volume and acidity of the gastric juices. Cimetidine can also be given to people with pancreatic insufficiency to help prevent the early breakdown of pancreatic enzyme supplements.
Dosage & Administration
Intravenous
Benign gastric and duodenal ulceration
Adult: Intermittent infusion: 300 mg 6-8 hrly infused over 15-20 min. Max: 2400 mg/day. Continuous infusion: 37.5 mg/hr (900 mg/day). A 150 mg IV loading dose may be given in patients requiring rapid elevation of gastric pH.
Zollinger-Ellison syndrome

Pregnancy & Lactation
Although animal reproduction studies have shown an adverse effect even sometimes unable to demonstrate the risk on the fetus and there are no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women, but during pregnancy, this medicine can be used just when definitely required.
