Potassium Chloride 0.1% + Sodium Acetate 0.65% + Sodium Chloride 0.5% Similar medicine
This solution should not be given quickly or for a long time. Because it contains different electrolytes, it should be used carefully in people who could be harmed by changes in electrolyte levels. This includes people who are pregnant, have kidney problems, heart failure, fluid in the lungs, or are taking potassium-sparing diuretics.
**Potassium Chloride**:
Some medicines can increase potassium levels in your body, such as potassium-sparing diuretics, ACE inhibitors, ciclosporin, and other drugs that contain potassium. Medicines known as antimuscarinics can slow down how quickly your stomach empties, which raises the chance of stomach side effects, especially with solid pills.
**Sodium Chloride**:
Sodium chloride can change the levels of lithium in your blood.
**Sodium Acetate**:
Sodium acetate can affect how your body absorbs some medicines because it raises the stomach’s pH. It may also help your kidneys get rid of acidic drugs like salicylates and barbiturates faster, while making basic drugs stay in your body longer.
Do not use this medication if you have kidney failure that causes very little urine (oliguria) or if your kidneys are not producing any urine at all (anuria).
**Sodium** helps control the amount and distribution of water in the body. It is the main positive ion (cation) in fluid outside the cells, making up more than 90% of such ions. The acetate part can be turned into bicarbonate in the liver, which helps balance the body’s acids and bases.
**Potassium chloride** is the main cation inside our cells. It is essential for sending nerve signals in the heart, brain, and muscles. Potassium also helps muscles contract (including the heart), supports healthy kidney function, keeps acid-base balance, helps with carbohydrate use, and aids in stomach acid production.
**Sodium chloride** is the main extracellular cation and is important for keeping electrolytes and fluids balanced in the body. It helps control fluid pressure and proper water distribution by replacing sodium. Sodium chloride is used to provide fluids and electrolytes, treat metabolic acidosis, as a priming solution in dialysis, and to manage high blood sugar in hyperosmolar diabetes. It is also used to dilute other drugs for infusions.
According to the requirements or as advised by the physician. The volume and rate of infusion will depend upon the requirements of the patients and the judgement of the physician.
It usually varies with age, weight and clinical condition of the patient. The recommended flow rate is up to 100-drops/minute/70 kg body weight.
