Adaben Duo Gel is indicated for
- Acne
Precautions and warnings
Sunlight exposure, particularly sunlamps, should be avoided while using adapalene and benzoyl peroxide gel. Patients who have had a lot of sun exposure or who have a natural sensitivity to the sun should be extra cautious. When exposure cannot be prevented, sunscreen lotions and protective clothing (such as a hat) are recommended. Patients receiving adapalene and benzoyl peroxide gel may be irritated by weather extremes such as wind or cold.
Adapalene and Benzoyl peroxide gel's safety and effectiveness in pediatric patients under the age of 12 years have not been established.
Side-effects
- Local adverse reactions that may be observed are dry skin
- erythema
- pruritus of skin
- skin scaling
- skin rash etc.
Drug Interactions
Adapalene: Medicated or abrasive soaps, products with a strong drying effect, and those containing alcohol or astringents may cause irritation.
Benzoyl Peroxide: PABA sunscreens may cause the fabric to discolor temporarily.
Contraindications
Hypersensitive to any of the components.
Mode of actions
Adapalene interacts with particular retinoic acid nuclear receptors, normalizing follicular epithelial cell development and reducing the production of microcomedones.
Because of its oxidative characteristic, benzoyl peroxide has a modest keratolytic impact and antibacterial action. It kills S.epidermidis and P.acne bacteria.
Dosage & Administration
Apply a thin film of adapalene and benzoyle peroxide gel to affected areas of the face and/or trunk once daily after washing. Use a pea-sized amount for each area of the face (e.g., forehead, chin, each cheek). Avoid the eyes, lips and mucous membranes.
Pregnancy & Lactation
Although animal reproduction studies have shown an adverse effect on the fetus and there are no adequate and well-controlled studies in pregnant women, but during pregnancy, this medicine can be used just when definitely required despite potential risks.
Mothers with a newborn baby who have used this drug during the last 3 months of pregnancy may seldom create symptoms including drowsiness, muscle stiffness or shakiness, feeding or breathing troubles, constant crying. If you notice any of these symptoms of your baby's particularly during their first month, tell the doctor immediately.
This medicine passes into breast milk. Talk to your doctor before breastfeeding.
